The best way to winterize a motorcycle is to ride all year long. However, for those living within the Arctic blast zone that’s not always realistic/enjoyable/advisable. Just like a boat or RV, winterizing your steed will help its engine and components last longer. Agreed, it’s not a fun task; for one, it definitively marks the last time you’re hitting the twisties for a while. But if you want to spend less time doing unexpected maintenance in the garage on warm weekend days next spring, put the time in now and winterize. It’s sort of like raking leaves: you don’t have to do it but if you neglect them the mess waiting when the snow melts will be awful. And the most rewarding part of proper winterization is that you’ll be ready to grip and rip when the first false spring day brings sun and 65 degree temps.
