Skate Fast... Ride Faster! - Paint Faster!

Monday, November 15, 2010 11:10:32 AM EST

Dime City would like to send a huge thanks to Brent and the entire Iron Promotions Crew for throwing one bad-ass event! Skate fast. Ride faster. was a huge success! We'd also like to shout out to the Lowside Syndicate for providing SWAG & MAGS to enjoy during the event and everyone else for participating.

Taking our "Paint Fast." idea to the pinnacle, these boys road down to the Legendary Cabbage Patch biker bar in Daytona and forged the colored mark of The Wing'd Piston above the famous entry way to the main bar. For those of you who've been there you know it's infamy...

Matt Bort, from Jacksonville, FL- Dime City solutes you, hombre! Way to be! You couldn't have selected a more perfect place to lay down the logo! We'll be in touch with your $50 gift certificate to DimeCityCycles.com.

Keep on Skating. Keep on Riding. And Keep on Paintin!

Join Dime City Cycles along with a bunch of other great sponsors like Biltwell and Lowside Magazine as this gleaming crew of Converse clad pavement cutters ride to and from Jacksonville's coolest Skateboard parks.

The event starts at 6PM Friday the 12th at an undisclosed location and the party ensues till morning when the boys mount and head out for wicked day of riding from Stone Edge Skatepark to New Smyrna Skarepark with their final stop being The World Famous, KONA Skatepark.

Now, it wouldn't be a wreckless group of motorcycle riding skateboarders unless someone brought spray paint right? So, Dime City Cycles has partnered up with Iron Promtions, whose bringin' the paint, to run a little live social media contest during the days events!

We've sent a handful of Wing'd Piston stencils to the Iron Promotions Crew to be used along the way to permanently emblazon the iconinc mark of speed and freedom into the Urban American landscape.  How sweet is that?

The guys on the ride will be sending in camera phone shots from the location of the offending paint distribution (no cop cars, old ladies or animals guys!) directly to our Facebook page for everyone to comment on and rate so please check-in on Facebook Friday and Saturday to put your votes out there!

On Saturday night, after Big Blue takes it's last soul on the vert, we will pick the winner who will receive a bitchin' Dime City Swag bag packed full of Mo'chine lovin' DCC style!

For more information on the ride and if you want to join in just shoot Iron Promtions an email - 904cafe@gmail.com

2010 Brooklyn Invitational & DicE Magazine Party

Wednesday, October 27, 2010 2:54:58 PM EDT

When you combine such esteemed talent such as- Chopper Dave, Max Schaaf, Shinya Kimura, Keino Sasaki and a handful of others with the creative energy flowing through a town, like Brooklyn, in a place called "Root Studios" you end up with one of the best motorcycle venue's possible.. Mix in a few thousand spectators on some of the sweetest custom rides in the US of A, some of the last remaining Hells Angels and antics of DicE Magazine and it just goes right over the top. We're talking about the 2nd Annual Brooklyn Invitational.

Last month sneaky Pete, Jordan and I (Jason) took residence in Gotham City for a few days immersing ourselves in the sights and the local flora fauna. What a trip it was! From the crazy taxi cab solo's of Pete to the awesome deli owner who was charging people more because she didn't believe Turkey was a real "lunch" meat to the girls at Hogs and Heffers who made us their own....wow! What a trip!

In short, the DicE magazine party was a blast and we got a chance to hang with not only Matt and Dean, but the guys from Lowside Magazine as well. Matchless Bar in downtown Brooklyn was the perfect venue for one of the best parties we've ever been to. It was like we rolled back in time and traffic stopped as lines of custom chops and cafe's took over the streets running through red lights, pulling wheelies and scaring woman and children. Hot damn, it's good to be alive!

As for the show- words cannot express the positive creative energy that was present within the confines of Root Studios. Some of the best custom builders in the world were present with their mo'chines in all their glory, seeking none. That was the most interesting thing about the event... It wasn't for PR, money or fame. It was simply for the sheer benefit of sharing what we all love with one another. The art of creating custom motorcycles.

To view the full gallery check it out here on our Facebook page - http://www.facebook.com/dimecitycycles

If you have the opportunity, we strongly suggest you attend next year. It will give you a new perspective on the way building bikes and presenting should be...

For those looking to dig a little deeper, checkout the last couple and upcoming issues of DicE Magazine where-in they are presenting “The White Knights in The House of Color” the brotherhood responsible for the event. http://wkithok.blogspot.com/

Cafe Racer TV Launch Party!

Monday, October 18, 2010 7:35:38 PM EDT

The good folks at Quaker Steak and Lube we're kind enough to let The DCC Crew crash their entire establishment for the premier showing of Cafe Racer TV last week. What an amazing place and friendly staff. Over 5,000 bikes showed up to enjoy the usual Wednesday night festivities.  You've got everything from people stiching seats, to live music and vintage motorcycles hanging from the ceilings.

We want to thank the owners along with Rev. Jim Goodrich with Preachers Motorcycle Promotions for helping us put it all together. It was truly fantastic seeing and spending time with all the people that came by to checkout The Brass Cafe and learn more about the show. Not a single person wasn't interested. We heard comments from "Damn! That's cool, what's a Cafe Racer!?" to "It's so great to see modern media exploring one of the last great niches in the motorcycle world instead of exploiting it."

Needless to say, it was one hell of a party and true to DCC fashion...we closed the joint down. For those of you who are local and came out, we thank you for your support and interest in the cafe racer movement. Without you guys, we'd have nothing to do!

"Or Glory" Book Signing at The Ace Cafe

Saturday, September 25, 2010 7:02:22 PM EDT

Our good friend, across the big pond, Horst A. Friedrichs has managed to capture the essence of cafe racer culture like no other with his recently debuted photo essay- Or Glory: 21st Century Rockers. Not a better place exists to have a book signing than, of course, The Ace Cafe in the heart of London, during their reunion.

[horst in all "his" glory outside the ace]

Adorning the front shop window, Horsts immaculate collection of imagery is bound by a sturdy cover, much like it's subjects, and takes its place, rightfully so, with other quintessential items that are "cafe racer."

[glory where it belongs]

ace cafe,cafe racer,or glory,21st century rockers,horst a. friedrichs

Inside the Ace Cafe, Or Glory will become part of the fabric that is cafe racer couture. A perfect fit and at a perfect time when many are searching for their roots, Horsts' fantastic imagery reminds those of old what it was once like and for those of new, hopefully, provides direction.

[a picture perfect representation]

Horsts' book depicts the raw essence of cafe racers. The grit and glory getters of yesteryear, and today, come to life in the pages of what will become one of the sole responsible items for keeping this niche lifestyle thriving.

[familiar faces make it all worth it]

Be sure to pickup your copy of Or Glory, today. Available only through Dime City, not only will you receive this amazing collection of printed works, you will gain access to three (out of nine) hand selected images by Horst A. Friedrichs and the Dime City Crew for download to your personal computer in high resolution format. How bout that, Ace?

Thanks for sharing the photos Horst!

The 1st Annual 2010 Bradentucky Burn-up; in review

Thursday, September 2, 2010 9:01:02 PM EDT

Yes yes...we know The Bradentucky Burn-up was a couple months ago. We also know that good things take time...

Let us first say, that often, we attend events that promise a great many bitchin' bikes, good company and a damn fine time overall. To often people overdue one part of the event and forget everything else. As example, what good is a bunch of beer if there isn't anything to munch on when people start getting hungry? Are they going to chew on old tires? No.. You need food, man. And along with food you need good music, hopping people and a three legged dog who plays fetch with an old license plate.

Josh Bird, event organizer extraordinaire, devout Triumph rider and close friend of The Dime City Militia managed to pull all those things together for one hell of an evening with the help of P-Man's Custom Paint in Bradenton Florida. All the passers by in their SUV's on the main road had no idea that real American culture was two streets over having it's way with a damn good time.

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

The event had three live bands with the final act being, The Downshifters.  There was an outside pool table, a mega-keg on tap and a hot-dog cart to fill those weary bellies full of Budweiser.  People from all walks of the motorcycle and hotrod worlds converged for a single evening of good clean, well- sort of clean, fun..

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

The bikes on display were everything from wild to mild.  HD cruisers and Norton's shared the parking lot space and there wasn't even a scuffle..  Everyone got along and the evening went off without a hitch.  When we talked with Josh during the event he said "I wanted to put together a true vintage event to not only give loyalist a chance to show their iron, but to expose other types of riders in hopes that they would pickup the interest.."  Very cool Josh..  Very cool idea indeed.

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

P-Man, custom paint god and general bad-ass opened up his sweet little pad in hopes that everyone local to Sarasota would have a spot to begin to converge sharing in a true "down-home" good time and culture swapping session.  As you can see, he and his crew provided a perfect example of a "southern tail-gate."

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

While the bands got ready the party ensued on the first floor of P-Mans shop which was littered with cool motorcycle paraphernalia from yesteryear.  We know how to do it right now here folks...don't let those SoCal and Nor-Easters let you think the only good moto-parties happen in their corners of the US of A!

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

If jammin' to tunes from one of the three live bands wasn't your thing you could step outside the warehouse and throw down some scratch betting on who was gonna win the next pool game...or dump their bike while trying to do a burn-out.

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

All in all the event was a major success.  Over 100 bikes showed and dozens more car loads of people poured in as the night went on into the shattered hours of the night.  The show was a close one and afforded a couple well deserved bike builders trophies for their hardworking petrol pounding beauties. The winner of Best in Show, a Moto Guzzi that had to of been older than your grandfather, was the real show stopper. More so, though, that the owner road it all the way to the event, from over an hour and a half away!

dime city cycles,cafe racer,vintage motorcycle,bradentucky burn-up,rocker,downshifters

On one hand, it was so cool we don't want word to get out for fear that it'll be swamped next year, but where's the fun in that? So keep an eye on The DCC Diatribe for info on the next gathering and get in on the action!

Stepping back into time..

Monday, June 7, 2010 7:45:07 PM EDT

We had the chance to attend "The Riding Into History" event in St. Augustine, FL a few weekends ago. What an amazing amalgamation of motorcycles! Everything from oil burning elbow up neck breakers to pristine Vincents.  Wow!

Be sure to checkout the website and set aside the time for next year! Bring lots of film, or memory cards and be prepared to have a crick in your neck when you done from all the "Whoa! Look at that!"

http://www.ridingintohistory.com/home.htm

Also, if your in the Florida area be sure to checkout Vintage Rider for all the latest news and happenings on all things two wheels and old in the great Sunshine state.

The site is run by a card carrying, oil burning, wrench twisting lovely gal name Louise Dutton and amongst her CB450 Black Bomber and Norton she has more motorcycles then most men I know, and knows how to use them!

That said....

It's no secret that the Dime City Militia has a soft sport for old Honda's.. A few of these were on display and they really struck our fancy.

Enjoy!
