What does the logo above inspire in your mind? To us, it pretty much covers the gambit… You’ve got the iconic pudding bowl helmet, infamous crossed piston all brought together by an art-deco representation of wings that inspire speed. Top if off with a cool name like COMA and you’ve got the makings for a pretty cool vintage motorcycle club.

Taken right from the COMA Website at:  http://www.comatampabay.blogspot.com/

COMA is an informal group of motorcycle enthusiast located in the Tampa Bay Area who has a passion for all things 2 wheels. The majority of the members own classic and modern British & European motorcycles but all makes are welcome in the group. The club has regular get togethers at bay area bike events, has group rides and attends many national vintage bike meets.

Sounds pretty good if you ask us! A club formed of vintage bikes that allows anyone the opportunity to join and get in on the fun.

Having met some of the guys in COMA we can tell you that while they might not be a “Cafe Racer” specific club there are plenty of bikes in the group that fit that category, some of them even stunning British examples the likes of Triumphs, BSA’s and all the other grand old bikes we long after here in the states. They’ve been around for roughly 5 years now and have approximately 40 members. You can checkout their member gallery of bikes (which is WILDLY IMPRESSIVE) by checking them out of Facebook RIGHT HERE.

While they might not have a flashy website or twitter feed, you can tell one thing when you visit their site, these guys actually go out and ride. Which is more than you can say for some of the other club websites we’ve seen… In addition, there’s a bi-weekly email list that club organizer Skip K. puts out to keep everyone in the know on what happening in the local vintage scene in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area. It really is quite informing.

Here’s an excerpt from the most recent newsletter sent out:

Hello All, Time for another COMA update. Bike week is fast approaching and it is now a week later. March 9th to the 17th.

Lots of the vintage themed evens are no more. No more AHRMA vintage bike week races, No more vintage bike auction & swap meet at Stetson in Deland and the AMCA meet has moved from Eustis to New Symra Beach. For those who are planning on camping there is the beautiful Lake Monroe Park in Debary. http://volusia.org/parks/LkMonroe.htm

Spots are going fast so call ASAP.

I have also started a club Face Book page; http://www.facebook.com/pages/COMA-Classic-Old-Motorcycle-Association/343468545682446

I have some shots of members bikes and a event calendar. We are also rotating our Thursday night meets between Kahuna’s and Sunset Grill, both in St Pete. If anyone has a suggestion of another location, we can throw in the mix, let me know.

Skip then goes on to talk about local rides and events happening, some weekly, in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete area. Something which we think is invaluable… Everyone seems to be so busy these days; it’s hard to even find the time to ride let along just “relax” and hang out with guys (and gals) and talk about one anothers machines. DCC applauds Skip and the rest of the COMA crew for keeping the club going and promoting the lifestyle.

If you live in the Tampa Bay/St. Pete and you ride vintage or modern classic motorcycles we strongly suggest you check them out. You’ll meet a great group of folks who love the same things you do and with any luck, you’ll have some fun on a Saturday afternoon doing what we all should be doing as much as possible, feeling the wind of camaraderie on two wheels. For more information email Skip directly at flguzzi@gmail.com.
