Wednesday, February 29, 2012 8:42:50 AM UTC

Hey Speed Freaks, the 25th Annual Donnie Smith bike show is taking place in St. Paul, MN and our pals over at Dennis Kirk are looking for submissions for a Cafe Racer to be displayed in their booth. They’re offering a $100 gift-card to whichever bike they choose to show in their booth, so it’s worth an email at least with a photo of your bike. Just shoot an email and description of your bike to Sam B. – SBeamond@denniskirk.com. May the best speed machine win!

The Modern Classics at Martin Motorsports, March 3rd

Wednesday, February 22, 2012 6:02:07 PM UTC

Given the current rise in interest in Cafe Racers Dime City is contacted almost weekly about a future event going on in some town where a bunch of like-minded guys are going to get together and share in our passion, vintage motorcycles. Which is AWESOME! And we do our best to sponsor every one of them. This particular event though, The Modern Classics at Martin Motorsports, really caught our eye. Why you ask? Because it’s run by a dealership and they actually shut-down for an entire day, put all the new inventory in the back and open their entire facility to play host to vintage speed machines of yesteryear. How cool is that?

After talking with event coodinator and vintage bike appreciator, Kevin Hyde, it only made sense that Dime City get involved. You see, this year, they’re introducing a specific “Cafe Racer” class to the bike show with the hopes that it’ll bring some of the fantastic vintage bikes people have kept, restored and have been building in the PA area out for everyone to enjoy. What a great way to share in the history that so many people are now becoming aware of.

Above is a shot from last years event that went off without a hitch. Just look at the level of quality and attention to detail as it pertains to the presentation of all those gorgeous machines. Over 1,000 attendees showed and spent the entire day swapping stories of yesteryear, educating the younger guys and celebrating these fantastic old girls.

And if that in it’s self isn’t enough to motivate you to bring your bike out, take a look at the professional photographs they take of each an every entry by browsing their Flickr gallery from year – [CLICK HERE.]

And they’ve even gone as far as to create a gorgeous hard cover bound book detailing each and every one of the bikes. Talk about appreciation and helping to build the sport…

In short, if you’re in the PA area there really isn’t anywhere else you should on Saturday March third other than Martin Motorsports. Their staff is bar-none one of the best we’ve come across in the dealer network and in a time when everyone is focused on selling the next newest fangled thing to make a buck, these guys stop for a day and remember where it all came from. In our minds, it’s a benchmark for other dealers to follow!

Oh and did we mention we sent up over $1,000.00 worth of Dime City and Cafe Racer SWAG to be given away the day of the event?

So far the Cafe Racer class is filling up and Dime City Cycles is proud to partner with Martin Motorsports sponsoring it and providing a hand-built trophy for it’s lucky winner. Take a look at some of these amazing bikes lining up for the judges!

We do hope you’ll dust off the tank and seat on your bike and ride it over, even you don’t plan on entering it in the show. It’s well worth it and there really isn’t a better way to spend a Saturday afternoon!
