The Cafe Racer Pod Cast – Check it out!

Monday, May 7, 2012 3:40:03 PM UTC

In this fast-paced and steadily increasing world of information and imagery overload, sometimes, it’s nice to hear a voice instead of just look at pretty pictures on your favorite BLOGs or Facebook news feed. Wouldn’t you agree?  You know, the days when people used to listen to talk radio (when actually had value and wasn’t chocked full of the latest scandal in Washington or news about the Kardashian’s.)

Well, for those of you looking for that kind of personal connection, there exists the world of Podcasts. Many of you (if not all) should already be familiar with iTunes and Apple’s cool narratives called “Podcasts” where individuals tell stories, give instruction or just ramble on about specific things that interest them all for the benefit of the listener, you. No longer do people sit in studios surrounded by high-priced equipment taking calls from guests and reading fan-mail via the post, they rather grab their iPhone and computer and simply record and edit their verbal atonement’s to be pushed out into the digital social sphere for others to share in with the push of a button. Pretty cool, eh?

Why on Earth are we plugging Apple, you say? Well, we’re not…and besides, though it would be nice to think Apple would benefit in a bump in business because Dime City Cycles recommends it, that’s not our purpose here. We’re rather trying to plug a specific piece of content that exists on iTunes, The Cafe Racer Pod Cast.

We first came across the show and it’s host, Christopher “Crash” Ashmore about 3 months ago. A cool little show recorded by a guy who loves Cafe Racers and motorcycles in general, Chris does a great job with content and news covering the gambit of motorcycling as well as the growing niche of Cafe Racers. Information on events, interviews with guys like Herm and Jason from Dime City Cycles combined with some cool music and Chris’s humor and delivery make for a fun little break for the monotony of the day. After-all, with a guy with the middle name “Crash” delivering the news it has to be someone comical, right? He even has a dedicated section to Cafe Racer TV where he discusses each current episode in depth. Pretty cool!

Swing by his website and subscribe, it’s worth the listen each month. The show has great potential and as the listener base grows so will it’s content!

DQ in NYC with a Bunny and a Bonnie

Thursday, September 15, 2011 8:46:58 AM UTC

Our good friend and appreciator of all things fast, loud and sexy, Duncan Quinn, recently rang us and said something a little like this:

“Hey, it’s DQ.  I need a custom DCC Bonnie for a photoshoot with a Playboy Bunny in 72 hours. In NYC. And of course, I’d like to keep it around for chasing the ton on our tight NYC streets.”

“Duncan, why is it that you always ask for the impossible?”

“Because, I know you can do it…”

“Sigh.”

Fast forward 24 hours, several cooperative calls between Dime City Cycles, Triumph US’s head of Marketing and Jack Trebour Triumph in New Jersey and you end up with what you see below.  A 2011 Bonneville SE kitted out with some goodies from The DCC Crew. The full list includes a Predator exhaust system, fender eliminator and blinker delete kit from British Customs, a fiberglass GP style tank, seat and fender by Legends custom painted by Bill Tribby and striped by Liza.

This is a small sampling of two kits DCC will be putting together for modern Triumphs as we move towards the end of 2011. In our mind, there simply is no other choice in the modern line-up that pays homage to Cafe Racers than the Triumph Bonneville and Thruxton.

If you haven’t already, find your local dealer today and go take one for a test ride. Triumph, go your own way!

BikeEXIF.com Dime City Cycles Grand Opening Event SPONSOR!

Monday, April 11, 2011 9:44:48 AM UTC

Someone asked me (Jason) the other day where I go for inspiration when I’m drumming up ideas for a project bike. Without hesitation, if it were written into my genetic code, I responded with a resounding- “BikeEXIF. There’s no better place on the Internet to experience the work of the best builders around the world with such quality delivery mechanisms.”

And with that our ton-up brethren and vintage metal flake mo’chine masters we give you Bike EXIF, the Official Sponsor and judge of the “Best In Show” class in the legit vintage bike show taking place at our Grand Opening Event on May 14th at Dime City Cycles.

When it comes to browsing the ever-bloated Internet for inspiration during a bike build one can easily get lost in a sea of custom paint and detail work. And, for those of us who work full-time jobs to keep the lights on in the workshop, time is precious and quick guaranteed access to the latest and greatest happenings in the moto world is paramount. Chris Hunter and the Team at Ural, behind BikeEXIF.com, understand this and continue to deliver some of best visual stimulation available as it pertains to motorcycles on a daily basis.

Be it a custom one-off work of art by Shinya Kimura or a garage builder in Baltimore, MA with virtually no name in the industry at all, BikeEXIF.com levels the playing field and is allowing builders of all states and statures to be showcased together in harmony. The effort put into finding and validating these gorgeous two wheeled wonders done by Chris Hunter and his team affords all of us as their viewers the opportunity to compare bikes and their builders based on real metrics without getting caught up in the latte infused fluff that seems to cloud so many things in todays motorcycle world.

Dime City recognized this and thought, who more perfect to judge the “Best In Show” class than the man who sees the best of the best all over the world? So stay tuned to the Dime City Grand Opening Facebook page for more details on the unique way we’re going to work with Chris Hunter during the bike show to judge and showcase the winning bike.  In the mean-time, if you’re looking for great ideas, quality writing and access to some of the best kept motorcycle imagery in the world stop by Bike EXIF.com and check it out. We do, every morning.

Anyone read Spanish? DCC featured in Mondo Biker Magazine

Monday, April 4, 2011 10:38:57 AM UTC

Thanks to our good friend Alan Bernard at Santiago Choppers we had a chance to meet with a good friend of his, Jerome Guiselin from France, on his most recent trip to Florida.  Jerome aka: Jean Claude Van Damme is a free lance journalist who spent some time swilling PBR and talking stories of Cafe Racers with us at Dime City.  He was kind enough to submit some of the photos and a story line to Mondo Biker which recently published the work!

A big thanks to our friends at Lowside for making the PDF available for viewing on line.  Check it out and if anyone can tell us what it reads we’d really appreciate it!

Dime City Cycles and Democrathings

Wednesday, March 30, 2011 9:47:28 AM UTC

When visiting Duncan Quinn’s boutique in Miami during Art Basel I fell into the backdrop watching the way people reacted to the Brass Cafe which DQ was kind enough to allow us to display during his “Bond Themed” event. One younger gentlemen took an extra close look more than once and finally ended up chatting with me about the bike.  We talked about the design process behind a Cafe Racer and the reason Herm and I chose vintage Honda’s amongst several other things that pertain to the world being viewed through a set of dark Raybans at Dime City.

As a follow-up to that chance meeting Juan Chaparro, the co-founder of Democrathings.com was nice enough to follow-up with us and furnish the opportunity to partake in a web interview where he discusses these questions along with several others on his interesting video based Podcast website/BLOG, Democrathings. He’s an interesting young man who has the desire to explore creative ideas and has a love for Cafe bikes, so the match was perfect.  The interview is about 30 mins long so please only watch it when you have time to sit down and watch it the entire way through. Juan’s dedication to the collaboration and creative collective deserves such an amount of respect.

Chris Hunter, the guru behind BikeEXIF, was kind enough to feature “The Brass Cafe” on the front page of his acclaimed website. The DCC Crew thanks you Chris! And we also thank all our friends, family and the others that helped us over the last 90 tireless days while completing this project. There is no way we could done it without you all!
