Details

Because t-shirts, like motorcycles, should be simple and affordable.. Dime City introduces our "€œMercury" tee. Screen printed by hand on super-soft, pre-washed and shrunk vintage style cotton shirts, the Mercury tee symbolizes everything DCC stands for: The pursuit of freedom and speed.

The brain child of artist Adolph A. Weinman, the "œMercury" dime and the vision behind it has become doctrine at Dime City. Circulating from 1916-1945, it depicts the goddess Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, a classic symbol of liberty and freedom. Moreover, the Mercury dime couldn't have been introduced at a more perfect time. The streets were filled with two wheeled freedom machines. Names like Harley Davidson and Indian become synonymous with American motorcycle culture. Just turn the key, kick it to life and experience yours. All one needed do was twist the throttle and hold on. What a sales pitch...

During this time period an entire culture was shaped and honed around the theory of performance. Holding your own as the best, going the farthest and getting there the fastest; these were the things real men longed for. In that, tuning was born and elusive speed was steadily losing ground to man as he toiled day and night seeking those extra miles per hour and revolutions per heart beat.

The Dime City mark symbolizes the perfect balance between what Adolph saw in his dream for America and what America dreamed for. Petrol burning, heart pounding, this is your last chance to truly live- freedom!

So, now you know the story behind the shirt, and the brand. Wear it and make us proud!
