Phillip Nelson's 1965 and 1967 Honda CB77's
In the 1960's, there weren't many motorcycles that were as cool as the CB77. Not only were these machines well-engineered for their time and lots of fun to ride, but the "Superhawk" also paved the way for its successor, the CB450. And the rest is history...

DCC customer Philip Nelson from Canada rebuilt two of these classics; the first being a 1965 restoration and the second being an RC163 replica race bike.

He purchased both of the bikes, completely disassembled, in 8 boxes for $800. The fellow he bought them had disassembled them with a friend, with the intention to restore them together, but they lost interest. "Once I got the bikes home and began to sort through all the parts," says Phillip, "I realized there were enough parts to restore one bike, and cafe the other".

His dad's first bike was a 1966 CB77, so he decided to restore the '65 back to its original glory. "Both bikes were assembled from a Honda parts list", Philip explains. "Find the bolt in the picture, cross-reference the parts list for the bolt dimensions, measure all the bolts in the pile until you find one that matches the specification. Every nut, bolt, and washer was sorted and assembled in this manner".

With the exception of some fuel lines, filters, tires, tach and speedo, and a taillight, to make the 1967 road legal, all parts are new old stock or refurbished original parts.
However, there were a few upgrades that really make this RC163 replica truly unique.

It has original Dellorto SS1 carbs from a 1967 Ducati GP race bike. The intakes were handmade and ported to fit the carbs. High compression NOS Italian pistons were added, accompanied by a 3-angle valve grind and a TT race cam from Mega Cycle. The headpipes were custom made by Cone Engineering. Holt Works from England supplied a handmade aluminum tank and seat. The seat is covered in black suede to exactly match the original, and the paint is also an exact match of the factory race colors, minus the fairing. And it can't be a race bike without the fork number plates, which were supplied by yours truly (see complete DCC parts list below).

Exceptional work, Philip and thank you for choosing Dime City Cycles to assist in the resurrection of these two classic rides!
