Marc Lemay's 1971 Honda CB350

I have always been fascinated by motorcycles my whole life but didn’t dive headfirst into them until I got my license in 2005. That was when I first heard the term “Café Racer”. When I read about the history of café racers, and what they were all about, I fell in love with them. I just felt like, “This is me; this is who I am.” From that moment, I knew I was going to have to build one someday soon. I could already picture it in my head, down to every detail.

Years went by, and although I had a small fleet of motorcycles now to fuel my passion, I still didn’t have my café racer. The dream was still there, but it just never felt like it was the right time to start such a project. Eventually, I met my now wife, Kimberly. After a year or so, her father, Keith, sat down and told me all about his old ’71 Honda CB350 out in the shed. Being an avid Honda motorcycle enthusiast, I was more than excited to hear about it. He told me several great stories, and fond memories he had of the bike. He then proceeded to say, I would be doing him a favor if I took it off his hands. It had been in the shed for 26 years, and it was serving as his parking stop for his lawn tractor. When he pulled the tractor in and bumped into the bike, he knew he was in far enough for the doors of the shed to close behind it.

AHRMA at Barber Motorsports Park

This past weekend October 5th-7th, the 2018 AHRMA race season ended with a bang at the 14th Annual Barber Vintage Festival. Located in the scenic southern heartland of Birmingham Alabama, this sprawling venue was bursting at the seams with spectators, vendors, and over 700 AHRMA race entries.

AHRMA at Talledega Gran Prix Raceway September 8-10, 2018

Heading to the next AHRMA road racing event at Talladega Gran Prix Raceway in Munford Alabama, the mood was solemn. The announcement on September 4th that AHRMA’s Membership and National Road Race Director, Cindy Cowell passed away unexpectedly certainly beckoned for a somber weekend. However, the AHRMA family pulled together like real families do in times of grief to deal with this difficult situation. Cindy had so admirably laid the foundation for many seasons of incredible racing and memories. Her family; extended blended colorful and caring honored this amazing woman with a weekend of racing she would have been proud to direct. Her absence is a great loss and she is certainly missed.

Rounds 11 & 12 had the DCC Crew arriving at Road America in beautiful Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin on Thursday. This legendary 640 acre facility boasts a four-mile, 14-turn super FAST road racing track. Rested and ready for another weekend of racing the DCC crew was poised to attack this truly world class track.

AHRMA at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit

Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is just west of Tulsa Oklahoma, tucked away in the small town of Jennings. It’s a 1.8 mile, 10 turn track with a few blind turns and some tight downhill corners. What I mean to say, is this track is loads of fun! Hallett is a venue AHRMA hasn’t visited in 12 years and the return this year for Rounds 5 & 6 was not a warm welcome.

A mixed bag of racing; elation, disappointment, laughter, sadness, accomplishment, frustration, forgetfulness, memories . . . it all blew in with the DCC Crew along with some chilly South Carolina weather.

AHRMA Wrap-Up 2017

They say lightning doesn't strike twice. Apparently hurricanes don't follow the same code of conduct. When the Dime City Crew arrived at Barber Motorsports Park it was positively beautiful, and hurricane Nathan was still just lil’ ol’ tropical depression 16...
